Treating “emotions” and psychological reversals with P-DTR

Of all that I’ve learned to treat with P-DTR, one of the most fascinating is treatment of emotions and “psychological reversals’. The “emotions” being treated are any dysfunctional feeling states that disrupts your flow and blocks you from making progress towards meaningful goals. These “emotional dysfunctions” can rob you of peace, hinder you from having more meaningful connections and relationships, and limit your capacity to be creative and gain new perspectives on problems. A “psychological reversal” issue is when your outward actions is in conflict with your inner dialogue that keeps you from moving forward.

The P-DTR treatment approach draws from NLP (neuro linguistic programming), traditional Chinese medicine and neuro science. The treatment takes about 5-10 minutes. A skilled clinician needs to be able to walk you through the steps for proper treatment to clear the emotional dysfunction at a neurological level.

The steps involved are: 1. identifying the stressful thoughts and feelings (conscious or unconscious) that the body reflexively weakens to , 2. finding the exact eye position that again the body weakens to which may correspond to a imagined future or past audio or visual distressful event, 3. stimulating a visceral organ related to the emotion (based on Chinese meridian theory), and 4. having an empathetic practitioner cue up the emotions as you looking towards “X” lines that has an integrating effect on the nervous system.

I had a personal experience as the client being treated for negative self talk related to decreased confidence in starting a new business. I was surprised and unaware of unconscious beliefs I had that insidiously came on within a few months that was making me feel on edge and generally irritable and somewhat apathetic. I normally see myself as a happy go lucky type of person and I take great pride in being mindful having mediated for close to two decades. With the treatment of my “emotions “ at a neurological level, I immediately felt a dark cloud left me. I was able to once again feel at ease and connect authentically with my P-DTR classmates and friends. I had re-gained my motivation to continue to grow my wellness practice to help my clients with more than just physical therapy but also with P-DTR and yoga.

Since then, I’ve helped my clients resolve emotional disregulation with this technique. One physical therapy client whose physical symptoms resolved , was afraid her symptoms might come back and this treatment helped her gain perspective to move forward and not let fear get in the way.

Another client wanted a more practical help to get over her aversion of cleaning up holiday decorations and for her family to help her with it. She stated “not only did I get all of the ornaments off the tree, but I also cleaned up my file cabinet that had documents from the early 2000s!". The same client reported that another session that focused on improving relationship with her twelve year-old son opened lines of communication that was less emotionally charged for both parties.

I am so excited about the possibility of this treatment to help with both major and minor emotional hurdles that keeps us from truly living a more fulfilling life. The possibilities are endless when the emotional parts of our nervous system is tuned up and humming optimally without the hang-ups of emotional baggage.
